San Antonio for the weekend

Last Friday I left THIS for this:
THE ALAMO
This was my first trip to San Antonio, Texas so of course I had to go see The Alamo
In the Alamo compound

Outside the Shrine entrance
Of course I forgot to take a good picture of the front of the building, and by the time I remembered I didn't feel like fighting my way back through that crowd. There were a bunch of reenacters in front of the building. I even got to see Davy Crockett (and his five twin brothers).
The best part about Texas? They have FLOWERS right now! Flowers!! In March! And no snow.
I also set aside plenty of time to walk along the famous Riverwalk.
This Chihuly look alike was hanging in a hotel off the Riverwalk, I had to stop and take a look.

Huzzah! It's SPRING!

Well, sort of. We weren't hit by the promised snoquester yesterday, but it snuck in overnight. We woke up to a few inches of snow on the porch and some disgruntled birds hiding under our barbecue.

Julius update

Hello. I thought you all might like an update on Julius.

He recently took a trip to the vet where he received rave reviews, belly rubs, and a rabies shot, :( ouch. He weighs in at a whopping 9 pounds now. Here he is in his natural habitat, the living room box fort.

Though he might look lazy, he's always ready to leap into action.

Now he's back to napping.

Julius like to hide his toys to save them for later. Sometimes he hides them so well he needs someone with thumbs to pull them out. When we notice he seems a little sad, or a little bored, all we have to do is look under the dresser. And the fridge. And couch.

This was a recent haul from some spring cleaning. His all time favorite toy is probably the raggedy little blue mouse on the left. Above all, Julius lovesssss to play fetch.

Here he is couch diving to retrieve a toy.

And now we're back to napping.

After his recent trip to the vet, Julius decided that his new favorite sleeping spot is the kitty carrier. I took the door off so he doesn't get stuck inside. Here he is relaxing post rabies shot in his sweater.

Julius has also decided that he likes water and went wading in the bathtub. When we picked him out of the tub and set him down he turned right around and jumped back in.

Pliny the Younger Day

This Sunday was our second Pliny the Younger tasting. Pliny the Younger is a very rare, highly sought after Triple IPA that only comes out once a year. Lucky for us, Philadelphia is one of the only cities on the East Coast that gets kegs.

Pliny is made by Russian River Brewing Company and tappings are usually accompanied by releases of other more readily available Russian River beers. This year we decided to try our luck at Bishops Collar.

The line was pretty long when we showed up, but we managed to get two of the last four tickets.

Pliny the Younger, 2013

Great photobomb! The bar was completely packed inside, we couldn't get past the front door. We were one of the last few people to get our tasters but people kept trying. Someone even offered me $20 for a sip of my beer!

Here are some cute little birds on our way home from the bar. They're the dark little blobs in the bush. We have a flock of them living on our porch this winter. I set up a bird feeder so they can keep that cat entertained, he likes to chirp at them.
